Let go of who you think you’re supposed to be and embrace who you are.
Perfectionism is a self destructive and addictive belief system that fuels unrealistic thoughts.
Perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order, an excuse for self-criticism.
Perfectionism is a dangerous state of mind in an imperfect world. There is no such thing as perfection, only beautiful versions of brokenness.
Yet so many of us to this day fall victim to it. We allow ourselves to inhale criticism and exhale comparison.
We allow societal standards to leave an inevitable imprint on us;
On how we are supposed to dress
On how much we are supposed to weigh
On our height
On what we should listen to
What we should watch,
Who are friends should and shouldn't be,
on who and what we are supposed to be.
And rather than trying to find ourselves, we try to find an image of the “perfect” being and we do everything we can to mimic that.
We miss out on finding and creating and becoming our unique selves because we are too busy chasing something that does not exist.
Perfectionism is not attainable; It is the enemy of creation.
Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor.
The enemy of the people.
& it will keep us from experiencing happiness.
We all strive to be “perfect,”
& overlook the power of imperfection.
THERE IS SO MUCH POWER IN VULNERABILITY
& owning that we are not perfect.
Owning our imperfections can be difficult…
BUT not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from them,
Yours Trulee <3

I enjoy poetry like this with a message. Thanks.
