M O M E N T S

We get so worried about being happy,

that we end up missing out on happiness altogether.

We need to stop waiting for these magical moments of pure bliss and start enjoying all the little fragments of happiness that make up our days

It’s the rainy nights spent curled under blankets with a good book or movie,

it’s the feeling you get in your stomach when you’re laughing so hard and can’t stop,

It’s not just friday and summer vacation,

It’s the days, moments, & seconds in between too…..

It’s the little wins at work,

not just the end of the year bonus, pay raise, or promotion but the moments that bring a smile to your face & warmth to your heart throughout your days;

the student finally handing in his homework,

the client finally opening up,

the patient making progress, the patient recovering,

signing that contract,

hitting that quota,

a co-worker or client praising you for a job well-done,

reading AND responding to all of your emails,

successfully presenting your point at that meeting,

effectively carrying out that lesson.

It’s getting to work on time & looking cute too,

It’s long car rides and singing on the top of your lungs to throwbacks with your best friends

It’s getting all the things on your to-do list done or

finally getting to that thing that you’ve been saying you have to get to for a solid year now,

It’s coffee dates, long soulful talks, and eating bowls of cereal at 2am

It’s dance parties in your room at 3am,

bear hugs when you squeeze your friends so tight because you really just love them

It’s bargain shopping or spending that $50 on that shirt because you deserve it,

It’s yummy dinners, ice cream dates, road trips & rainy lazy days,

It’s all of these little moments that make your life,  your life.

Life is the sum of all of these little moments.

All of these moments and feelings and people combine to make up a bigger moment that we call life.

Thus, we must top rushing through life and wishing for moments,

and instead enjoy the moment we’re in right now,

we must learn to appreciate the moment we’ve been given and the people we’ve been given to spend it with,

because no matter how beautiful or tragic or boring or repetitive or seemingly trivial it may seem, it always ends

Not a single thing lasts forever,

So,

today and everyday that follows,

work on being present in every given moment;

hold a little tighter, smile a little bigger, cry a little harder, laugh a little louder, forgive a little quicker, and love a whole lot deeper,

& please,

stop searching for moments of happiness

Instead, realize that these very moments pass you by each second,

& embrace them, whole heartedly:

hug them, love them, lay with them, dance with them and above all else;

cherish them.

Cherish them with every ounce of your being,

& even as these moments pass

and become distant memories,

let them stay lightly kindled somewhere within you,

keep them stored away like you would a bin of polaroid pictures.

Because whether you realize it or not;

these little moments that bring color to your days,

light to your soul & warmth to your heart

are the very moments that you will remember when you’re old and wishing you could rewind time,

they are the very moments that will dance in your memory and decorate your mind,

they will burn within you for decades to come,

illuminating past adventures, faces, stories, jobs, successes, failures, loses & so much more

bringing warmth to your soul,

& just like the sun,

it is these very moments that will keep you warm when you’re older

Yours Trulee <3
